The Randomest of Tones

Soo, Every morning I wake up at random intervals of time and process how I feel. Which is extremely difficult to compile a thematic music compilation daily, from nothing. So at this point of about roughly 12 days out of 15 days, this has become a daunting task to produce daily from nothing. Yet and still, I produce. Now today I had a talk with a great guy I know, goes by the name Rockwell. We had hit the topic of Big Boi's new album, and how great it is. This made me think of one of the outstanding tracks on the album; You Ain't No Dj. That song stayed with me all the night into the waking hours. Then, it hit me. Dj's make things happen. Real Dj's make music happen. Regardless of the genre. So I randomly went through a folder and mixed in some songs. "The freedom is better than breathing they said". So this is what I give to you. Randumb

Good Morning Kanye West
God's Gonna Cut You Down - Johnny Cash
Spazz N.E.R.D.
You Ain't No Dj - Big Boi

Baby Gurrl

Soo, I remember it when it all happened. Ten days after my birthday, I wake up Saturday morning to MTV news. A breaking news report appears. Her plane has crashed. Just to move before that, to see a woman not in the public eye too much, yet a positive role model to young urban women and men on how to properly conduct themselves. Even as I sit and am forced to accept the given details, I cannot help but think it was a conspiracy theory. Aside from my feelings of a growing Huey Freeman. I miss the material produced, as well as the possibility. DISCLAIMER: This is by no means a best of, this is simply a treatment if you would, of her music produced. This is also not the last time you will hear me do an Aaliyah mix. With out any further words or context, I give you:

King Purple

Soo, there's a state. Not popular for much, maybe a few things. . . Cheeseheads, Snow, and oddities. By that I mean odd stuff, like its the 12th largest state, known as the "Land of 10,000 Lakes", Mall of America, and of all other things, Musical Influence on History by way of King Purple himself. Prince. This man (w/ the assistance of others) changed music, made history and had everyone sweating & working it out in the later half of the 80's and well into the 90's, still travels, still sells out, still puts out music, will side eye you and eye molest you in a flash, and will do it all in some pumps and mascara with the pants with the booty cheeks cut out and you won't even feel dirty or mad after it. There is a certain kind of sexual prowess exuded in the music, and that's not even talking about the women he has worked with. Now I am trying to keep these feelings down, but that damn Apolonia & that Vanity 6 album cover just do something to me. Now that was sexy far beyond anything Ciara can pull off in any video! Its not right the way I feel about them covers. Any way that is enough about that topic. This mix is more of a concentration to what Price (+ The Revolution) have contributed to creating a certain style/sound and more directly, those artist who with some degree of immediate seperation, used it usually under/with him.
I.) A Love Bizarre = Shelia E
II.) Kiss = Prince
III.) Ice Cream Castle = Morris Day & The Time
IV.) 1999 = Prince & The Revolution
V.) Sex Shooter = Vanity 6

VIII.) U Got The Look = Prince

BlahDay/Monday

Sooo, this one conveys feelings about Mondays. Sure I've done one before about Mondays, just. You know how sometimes you didn't do anything so your waiting for Monday. Then some weekends you don't want monday to get here. Then, there are those certain Mondays where you had a semi-good weekend, and you think its going to carry over because you felt that something was missing from your weekend, so God was going to slide it into your Monday. Only to look out the window and see its cloudy and dull. . . So now your stuck in a bit of a potentially mucky, murky place waiting for you to get your rhythm? As I sit here half asleep in the daylight I type. Not wanting to continue I cut to the chase. Monday, WhaEvuhUSay. . .

Juicy Dancing

Soo, its Friday. I've been on Social Network sites all week, sites like FaceBook & Twitter. I notice people for some reason or another have a strong motion towards quoting shit. People especially LOVE to quote deep philosophical stuff. While knowing that no where on their agenda for the week or weeks past have they actually said these quotes aloud. Nor have they even taken a Philosophy class. Yet and still they try to be deep and meaningful, but don't apply it or even take a conditioning to it. So I am here to combat that. Since its Friday, & I've dealt with these low-life halfway philosophical hush puppy cornballs all week. I don't want to sit here and quote some stuff or ponder and give you something meaningful. I want to give you some MEANINGFUL. Something that will help you get away from the faux-bourgeoisie complex having syndicates. People don't want to think! They just want to feel!
1. "Dj" - Amanda Blank

This One Goes Out TO YOU, TO YOU, THIS ONE GOES...

Sooo. While I was at the Guilty Simpson concert, I witnessed this Dj. He was live, he was a GOOD Dj, BUUUTTTTT! While I was listening to his song selection, it hit me! Why is there a certain few songs that most Djs play during their "HIP-HOP Sets"? I love A Tribe, I love Krs One, I love Gangstarr, ya know. Really though kid? EVERY SET? Johnny! Put 'em in a bodybag. I'm dying out here. So what can I do to thwart this repetitive notion? Educate the people on other "lesser known" but equally good songs. On this one I opted to leave out the "party" vibe, although back then that was a good thing about Hip-Hop, it was for all other purposes, stress relief and fun. This mix treads the line between the Streets and the Party. This Hip-Hop from about 1979-1990ish. Featuring one of my all time favorites Busy Bee... Lest not waist time:

R1.Its A Demo = Kool G Rap
R2.Suicide = Busy Bee
R3.Court Is Now In Session = Chill Rob G
R4.The Show Stoppa = Super Nature
R5.Sparky's Turn = Sparky D
R6.Just Buggin = Whistle

Going Back

Sooo, I am a faithfull believer in a higher power (God,Allah, Jah, Jehova, Jaira, Karishna, You Pick). So due to unforeseen issues and circumstances I was without a laptop. What a blessing in disguise, I am a real Dj right? I got vinyl. No big deal. I've done this before. Cool. So I did it. It came out REAL nice, like amazing! There is something about that feeling that is produced by your body when you hear that hiss, cracking, and popping sound when you put a needle on a record. MAAANNNNEEEEE. Sorry... So I wasn't able to upload and what not because I was pressed for time. So later that night I was Dj'd our Fat Tony set at the J Rocc + Guilty Simpson concert. While there I got a chance to see Baby Jae of the all mighty CrackerNutz. All I will say is Motivation. So I apologize for any wackness, So *IF* you ever feel anything I do is wack (terms of music composition/scratching), contact me, we'll talk it out, we will get money together + prosper. Sorry just had to let y'all know what/how I feel. Without further adieu, I present: Vinyl Love

Sweat It Out (A Double Standard)

Sooo, I went to SxSw this year, while there saw many great bands, very few Dj's. Though of the Dj's I saw, I got a chance to sneak into the Fools Gold Party and check out Sammy Bananas & some of Maggie Horn which together are quite possibly in my top 5 favorite duo's of all time right after Moses & Aaron. Of course Outkast is just before them at #1, any who, while Sammy Bananas while playing there was one song inparticular that he played. It was a remix/re-fix of R.Kelly's bump and grind. Mind you this was in March, so this has been like 6 months in the making... Matter of fact I dont even think this is the proper song he played but heck, its A ok with me. Its so live. So take off your shoes, tie your hair, put on something a little more skimmpy and sweat it out. This one is simple and to the point. Not to mention the first two songs are 90's R&B track that were once used to sweat it out(HINT HINT WINK WINK), and are now used to sweat it out... Her'jew Go Manne:

Bump-&-Grind - R.Kelly / Turbo P remix
Freak You - Jodeci / MK Dub remix
On The DanceFloor - David Guetta feat. Wil.I.Am & Apl D Ap / Chuckie remix

Guilty Until Proven Innocent

Soo, I'm not going to front like I've been all up on dude for a long time. I had been hearing the name and what not, but never could actually place a song to the name. I had known his story for quite some time, you can find out his story either here or here
. So this is my song I sing. Guilty Simpson is a dope artist from Detroit, has the respect of Eminem, Trick Trick, and many other Detroit city artist. Also not to mention the man is on Stones Throw Records and is multiple time collaborator with the astute J.Dilla, Black Milk, Mad Lib and all types of Hip Hop artist and producers. "I'll go flop before I go pop"- Guilty Simpson didn't say that, I just think it fits. Anyway, without further adieu today's mix:
1/Ode To The Ghetto - Guilty Simpson
2/Hold Your Applause - Guilty Simpson
3/100 Styles - Guilty Simpson
4/I Must Love You - Guilty Simpson
5/Karma of a Kingpin - Guilty Simpson
6/Gone Crazy Interlude - Guilty Simpson
7/Hood Sentence - Guilty Simpson
8/My Moment - Guilty Simpson
9/Cali Hills - Guilty Simpson
The Verdict is

Before Wayne and Jay-Z there was A Man. . .

Soo, I can fondly remember being a kid in '93 at a private school on the West Side of Cleveland, Oh. Where there, there was this kid(of course white), he was named Eric. One of those not necessarily trying to "act" of a different nature, but rather was just bad and a product of his environment. Anyway, we were in gym class, and it was like one of the last days of school, you know the half-ass ones where you don't even change out of uniform. So, Eric is telling me about this tape he took from his brother, he pulls it out and low and behold. Its Tupac's second album, Strictly 4 My N.I.G.G.A.Z. Which by the way, I never understood what it stood for? Even before that I remember seeing a short cameo from when he was a member of Digital Underground, in the mover Nothing But Trouble. Then to only go a few years later and drop a Grammy nominated Album supllied by A Grammy nominated Single. Then to further that. . . You know what this man has accomplished. Then only to fall from Grace, then be resurrected numerous occasions through music, ink, and fine arts. If you are unfamiliar, please do your work on his WikiPedia Page. Without further adieu; All Eyez On Makaveli Against The World *This is a culmination of the final three official solely dedicated albums*
